As a director my work is deeply influenced by my art historical background. I start from paintings and sculptures in order to rethink and portray these depictions through moving image, specifically feminine imagery. My reading of artworks and their historical context inform my scriptwriting and research, allowing me to abstract the visual world through cinematography, set design, locations and costumes. My films attempt to create an otherworldly realm that is suspended in time, familiar yet not immediately placeable, inviting one to question the symbols embedded in the images and their relevance to contemporary storytelling.
